week 8
In this week, I have improved the Revit model: traditional styles and 'new Chinese style '

Traditional Chinese style
" 东 " (Dong) means east in English. In China, it represents the wood element in the five-element and its representative color is green or blue.
In case study 1, by analyzing the model, the characteristics of traditional Chinese interior design can be summarized in the following points :
Has strong national characteristics
Design based on traditional Chinese culture
Like to use wooden furniture to show the harmony between humans and nature

The traditional Chinese style used a traditional brick structure and it had an overhang to protect the walls from the rain. Besides, stick the reversed Fu or hang some couplets on the front door is the traditional Chinese culture, Chinese people believe reversed Fu and couplets can bring luck to the whole family

In traditional Chinese interior design, the nave is one of the most important rooms of the house. Since the Song dynasty, Chinese people were used to having a nave in the home. The place not only can be used to discuss official business but also provides the opportunity for the whole family to promote the relationship.

To Chinese people, the courtyard is a kind of spiritual sustenance. And the courtyard is also the expression of harmony between man and nature.
" 南 " (Nan) means south in English. In China, it represents the fire element in the five-element and its representative color is red or purple.
In case study 2 , by analyzing the model , the characteristics of 'New Chinese' style can be summarized in the following points :
based upon traditional Chinese cultural ideas and expressed through modern western design
Compare to traditional Chinese style , it is more functional
On the basis of Chinese culture , as far as possible to meet the requirements of contemporary chinese people's life .

In ancient China, there was no concept of the fountain. The fountain was introduced into china after 1727. China's first fountain was located in the old summer palace, even Emperor Qian Long has mentioned, the fountain was the representative of the western landscape. So placed a fountain into a traditional Hui-style courtyard can be considered as the integration of different cultures.

In all ages, Chinese people prefer wooden furniture to other materials. Till now, the research found that wooden furniture was already used in Neolithic China. The Chinese people like wooden furniture in their bones.

"The open space" is the western interior design concept. And in my own perspective, this concept can be summarized: in order to satisfy the contemporary people's living environment, multiple spaces are combined together to constitute a multifunctional room.
The "new Chinese " style open space nave is based on the traditional Hui style nave. In the case of retaining traditional elements, it is more in line with contemporary Chinese people's living standards. The whole space is no longer only used for the living area, it also becomes the little bar, dining room, and study
